Awards Night 2014/2015 Season

The 2014/2015 season has not been an easy one for Newbridge HC between players relocating, having babies etc there has been a huge shift. However like always we put our best foot forward week in week out. The girls trained in all sorts of weather, played in even worse conditions and gave nothing less than 100% every time they put on our club colors. Much credit has to go to our two fantastic coaches, Luke and Owen, whose endless determination saw us through to the end of the season. The 2014/2015 Committee put in huge amounts of work behind the scenes also, and it was obviopus to all involved the passion they have for Newbridge HC. U14 West Leinster Cup Semi Finals

This weekend saw double local derby action; Naas v Newbridge u14s Semi Finals #1 of West Leinster cup took place at 12:30 in Newbridge College where our 1st year team won their game 3-0. The skills displayed by both teams were absolutely fantastic, a credit to themselves and their coaches! A massive congrats to Emma & Caoimhe and of course the girls! Semi final #2 took place at 1:30 in Old Caragh Road where the 2nd year teams fought it out for the last spot in the final. An absolutely smashing game by both teams with just the smallest of touches at the b

20 years & still going strong!

IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT NEWBRIDGE HOCKEY CLUB IS CELEBRATING 20 YEARS, AS IT SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY THAT ORLA POSTED AN ADD IN THE LEINSTER LEADER TO ESTABLISH A NEW CLUB. THE REST AS THEY SAY IS HISTORY. I SPENT FIVE OR SIX YEARS COACHING THE FIRST TEAM AND I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. TRAINING IN NEWBRIDGE TOWN AND PLAYING IN THE OLD PITCH IN NEWBRIDGE COLLEGE COMMITEMENT NEVER WEANED AND THE GIRLS ALWAYS DISPLAYED A STEELY DETERMINATION THAT WOULD NOT ENTERTAIN THE WORD LOSE. DESPITE GETTING NO FORMAL SKILLS TRAINING IN THOSE VERY EARLY YEARS THE CLUB WENT FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH WHICH IS A TESTEMENT TO THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION FROM SO MANY GIRLS. IT WAS FITTING THAT THAT COMMITME

All of the players demonstrated some very disciplined play, and were eager to show off the passing, tackling and ball-carrying skills they have learnt t

Newbridge U14 Minors unlucky in Semi Final

Newbridge 0 - Loreto 1 Newbridge u14 minor team travelled to dublin sunday morning to play one of Irelands most established and successful clubs in e semi final of the Leinster Minor League. This was always going to be a high standard game with the Newbridge girls coming off a strong run of games with wins over some very strong teams on their way to the semis. Both teams started well with the dublin girls playing a typically tactical passing game to try and take the tempo out of the quick attacking Newbridge side. Newbridge looked most likely to score first with Leah Delaney controlling midfield and distributing the ball at pace to the wings. Loreto were most dangerous on the counter
