Player Profile : Lisa White

January 27, 2015

Name? Lisa White

When did you first start playing hockey? 1st year in school

How long have you been with Newbridge HC? 6 seasons

Position on the 2nds? The last 5seasons I've played centre forward, this season I've  been playing centre midfield...running running and more running!

Do you play any other sports / activities? Tag in the summer months, surfing at weekends and I sign up for races just to keep active when the hockey season is over.

Favourite Sports Person? LeBron James professional basketball player for the Cleveland Browns. An absolute legend!

Biggest influence on your sporting life so far? My granny. She lived with us and we watched every sport including snooker. She was a sports fanatic. She encouraged me to return to hockey when I was in college.

Best advice someone has ever given you?  Specifically in relation to hockey a team mate Sharon Whelan shouting at me to 'bend my legs and keep stick on the ground'. Sounds like such simple advice but makes a big difference to my game. She verbally beat that habit out of me!

Favourite music? Dance music.

Favourite movie?  Way too many but The Raid would be up near the top of the list.

Who’s the tough nut of the team? Coxy. I'm terrified of her especially when I'm playing in forward position. She has a strong physical presence and is stubborn so hounds you down to win the ball. Could describe her as a terrier! But very friendly off the pitch of course...

Who’s the quickest? The twins Megan and Emma

Who’s the joker of the team? Có, she is always up for the craic.

Who’s the worst time keeper on the team? Easily Ruth Conlon. A disgraceful time keeper!

Any advice for someone looking to try a new sport? You are never too old. Come along and meet new people, have fun and get fit. Get stuck in and enjoy it.
