This weekend saw both under 14 teams in action in Newbridge College.
West Leinster Cup saw Newbridge U14s second team take on Abbeyleix.
Both teams started strong but Newbridge soon broke away with fantastic displays of clever joined up hockey and goal scoring ability.
1st years division D team put up a great fight against a very strong Skerries team. Although the result didn’t go their way, they never gave up and showed some lovely displays of hockey with Lucy Coller, Aliya Jordan and Sarah Anderson all impressive.

U10 Blitz – 25.01.2015
Newbridge Hockey Club U10’s (3rd and 4th classes) hosted their first blitz of the hockey season where a total of four clubs, Newbridge, Naas, Abbeyleix and North Kildare, took part in what was to be a super display of hockey from boys and girls aged from 8 to 10.
Given the recent activity by Jack Frost Newbridge were delighted when not only did they have the all clear pitch wise, the weather remained cold but thankfully dry. A total of 16 teams participated and 24 games were played where each team played three games each. Teams were mixed with girls and boys and not only were a plethora of goals scored but the standard of hockey was astonishing as the children came into their own put in a game scenario. The enthusiasm, energy and excitement was infectious throughout the morning – even falls and bangs couldn’t deter them from putting everything in for their teams and club.
A huge thank you to all clubs who took part, the children were a credit to each of their clubs. Also a massive thank you to all the volunteers on the day without whom these events cannot happen. The next and final u10 blitz will be hosted by Abbeyleix on March 1st 2015. In the meantime we can all be assured the future of hockey is most definitely secure in Kildare!
