U14 Leinster Champions!!!

Extreme 1st Year Newbridge Team win Leinster Division C Extreme 8’s Final!

Newbridge - 4 Boyne – 0

Sunday 29th March 2015 was a proud day for Newbridge Hockey Club as it was the day that the club won their first ever Extreme 8’s Leinster League title. Travelling to the National Sports Centre Blanchardstown, the venue for the final, the girls were nervous, excited but focused. Despite the weather it was clear from the warm up that Newbridge meant business. They hit the ground running from tip off with fine displays of joined up hockey coming from Anna Young, Caoimhe Byrne and Eleanor Traynor. When the half time whistle blew Newbridge were 2-0 up. Boyne came out fighting in the second half and no matter how hard they tried they couldn’t break down the calm and organised defence unit made up of Goal keeper Eva Matthews and backs Aisling Elliott, Lucy Fitzgibbon and Mary Enright. Newbridge again started to load on the pressure and despite some fine tackling from Boyne were able to score another 2 goals before the final whistle blew. It was a very proud moment for the club, the parents, and especially the coaches Emma O’Connell and Caoimhe Murphy when Captain Lucy Fitzgibbon accepted the Cup on behalf of the team. All in all a super day for Newbridge Hockey Club. Exciting times ahead for this group of players.

Team: Eva Matthews, Lucy Fitzgibbon, Mary Enright, Aisling Elliott, Caoimhe Byrne, Anna Young, Aibhla MacTigue, Eleanor Traynor, Sydney Sheridan, Melissa Scully, Ellie Henry and Jenny Dillon.
