Sunday 31st May saw the end of our hockey4all programme.
Over the past 6 weeks Newbridge Hockey Club has run a programme for children and teenagers with disabilities with the aim to provide training sessions at local level.
In total we had 16 participants with a range of abilities. The progressions in each of our new players has been unbelievable, they have gone from never holding a stick before to playing in mini games.
In total we had 17 volunteer coaches/sports leaders. We cannot express in words how grateful we are to our leaders and coaches. It is down to each and every one of you that this programme was such a success.
In terms of next steps the club will be rolling out another 6 week block as part of our Junior Section beginning in September. If you have a child/teen with a disability who might like to try hockey please get in contact with us to discuss. Pre-registration is essential.
Also if you are someone who is interested in volunteering with the club we would also love to hear from you.
Newbridge HC would also like to extend a massive thank you to Starbucks who sponsored refreshments and goodies on our last session, to Dwayne & Fiona from the IHA, Áine from KSP, Newbridge College for the use of their pitches, and Gavin from Hybrid Strength & Conditioning.
