Date for the Diary - 10th Sept 2017. Junior Hockey Returns
We are fast approaching the beginning of the 2017/2018 hockey season, and therefore wanted to get in touch with you to let you know plans for the forthcoming season.
Much like last year, we will be having registration in Sarsfields GAA club on both the 17th & 24th of August from 8.15pm – 9.30pm. If you cannot make registration in person we will have online registration open also from next Wednesday 16th August, for a two week period. Online registration available here: https://1drv.ms/xs/s!Ak7si4LaA6K8ghzl-tRQBO5kEmZf
Please note there will be NO onsite registration at Newbridge College so please do not ask any coaches to take forms or payments from you.
If your child is not registered they are not insured, therefore pre-registration is essential.
Please see fee structure below:
€90 for one child
€150 for two children (same family)
€220 for three children (same family)
€260 for four children (same family)
€290 MAX per family.
€50 per child of a fee paying adult.
€10 for child of full time volunteer to cover insurance.
There has been a slight increase in membership fees this year due to an increase in insurance and Leinster registration. Furthermore we are re-investing in the clubs coaches through Level 1 IHA coaching courses.
Please note a minimum of €10 must be paid at registration to cover insurance. Half of your membership fee must be paid by Christmas, and the remaining half by Feb 28th 2018.
Please note you can pay by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
Bank transfer IBAN: IE62BOFI90126320111402 BIC: BOFIIE2D (using your child's name as a reference) or you can send a cheque to Martina Kenny (club treasurer) made payable to Newbridge Hockey Club. Please contact us for Martina's address.
Cash will only be accepted on either registration night.
Please note that from October onwards, we will be working closely with Newbridge College’s hockey team to provide one extra training session per month to any girls in 6th year. This is a fantastic opportunity for the 6th class girls to start mixing & playing hockey with 1st year girls. This is open to all 6th year girls regardless of where they will be going to school, however this will prove especially beneficial to any girls going to Newbridge College as they will be familiar with the coaches upon entering the school.
General club communication: Facebook, and email (using mailchimp therefore please ensure you give us your email address at registration).
Email: firstname.lastname@example.org (this email is picked up by Jen – club secretary)
For matches & blitzes your child’s coach will contact you via email or teamer. This will be specified at the beginning of the season.
Training WILL go ahead in wind or rain, however frost may cause disruption. Any cancellations will be made on the morning of training and there will be a post on Facebook. We CANNOT text every parent in the club as we do not have a texting facility.

More details for team managers will be available early in the season.
Gum shields & shin guards are compulsory. Your child will not be allowed train or play without both. Face masks (defending short corners) are also compulsory. Footwear should be suitable for all weather pitches. All members require their own hockey stick. The club do NOT provide these.
Under age sides play in black tracksuit/shorts. A Newbridge HC t-shirt and hoodie are available in GSports, located @ Langton Cross, Newbridge (www.gsports.ie).
League teams (boys and girls, 1st year-4th year) play in full Newbridge League kit, also available in G Sports.
There will also be beanie hats, jackets, and tracksuits available online and in store from G Sports at the beginning of the season.
We are still in the processing of determining coaches therefore will be in touch ASAP with full structure.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with the club please get in touch with Sharon; 0868541936. We will provide full training, and you can determine your level of coaching involvement from assisting in the coaching to laying out cones!
Last year we had a number of parents (with no hockey experience) volunteer and now they are all coming back for a 2nd year so it is really not as scary as you may think.
