5k & 10k Run - Sunday 8th April
This coming Sunday, 10.30am, we are holding a 5K & 10k timed/chipped Fun Run.
Registration & Number Collection
You can register & collect your race number (and tshirts if applicable):
Location - Newbridge Educate Together
Time: 4.30pm - 6.30pm on Saturday
8.30am - 10am on Sunday
Format: if you are registering on site, you will fill in your details on a sheets of paper, then proceed to the 5k or 10k table, give the registration guys the slip, the required money, and you will receive your race number.
5k Adult €15
5k student (U18 or College Student) €10
5k family (2A 2C) €35 (each additional child €5)
10k adult €20
10k student (16yrs - 18yrs) €15
Parking will be available at Newbridge Educate Together, and St. Annes National School. Both are approx 3-4 minute walks from the start point.
There will be limited parking so please car pool, cycle, walk where possible.
Toilets will be available in Newbridge Educate Together. Please note there are NO toilets at the start/finish line.
The 10k race starts at 10.30 SHARP, followed by the 5k. Please be at the start line for 10.20am for a race briefing.
The run starts at Lumville Cross, straight down the road from and will take you through the scenic Curragh of Kildare, taking in views across the plains including Braveheart Hill. The race will loop back around finishing at the starting point. Taking place on quiet roads, it’s a fast route ideal for PB’s.
NO U16 is allowed on the course on their own. They must have an adult with them at all times. Newbridge HC will not take responsibility for unsupervised minors.
Marshals & First Aid
There will be marshals stationed at every turning point along the route. You cannot get lost!!
Kildare Civil Defense will have a roving presence on the route, and are also providing first aid. In the instance that First Aid is required, please notify the closest marshal, or Kildare Civil Defense.
Both races start at Lumville Cross, heading toward the Curragh Camp, taking a left before the Curragh Golf Club heading toward Donnelly's Hollow. At Donnelly's Hollow take a right turn toward Blackrath. Where the road splits for Blackrath, the 5k will turn back. The 10k runners will continue onward past Braveheart Hill, past the firing ranges. At the T junction take a right turn towards Brownstown, there will be marshals at the turn back point.
We will have a lead bike so no one will get lost, unless you decide to take a run across the plains!!!
Post Race Refreshments
Refreshments will be available at Newbridge Educate Together post race. There will also be water at the finish line, and along the route at the 4/5km
Timing is carried out by Pop Up Races. results will be available on their website www.popupraces.ie
We have €50 one for all vouchers for the first male & female 5k, and 10k.
Prizes will be distributed at approx 11.45am.
