JUNIORS

Here at Newbridge Hockey Club we are dedicated to creating an environment which is friendly, fun and supportive for young people. We aim to make training fun for all players developing basic skills from an early age while creating healthy competitiveness.  We strive to develop our young members in all aspects of hockey and sport in a friendly supportive environment.

We work closely with Leinster Hockey www.leinsterhockey.ie and Hockey Ireland www.hockey.ie to ensure best practice is followed in children's sport.

As well as a good attitude and enthusiasm, a gumshield and shinguards are essential for all training, matches and blitzes!

All players must have shinguards, gumsheild, astro runners and a hockey stick.

Please also ensure that players are wearing clothing suitable for the weather conditions and that they bring a water bottle (labelled).

NO SHINGUARDS, NO GUMSHIELD = NO PLAY

If your child is trying hockey for the first time we have sticks that you can use for your first couple of sessions to test the waters. Once they decide they are continuing to play, it is really important they get a stick that fits them! Andrew & Dave in G Sports can assist in this.

What do I wear to a blitz?

Kids should wear black tracksuit bottoms or shorts, and a maroon hoodie or polo, this doesn't have to be the club ones. Shinguards and mouth guards are compulsory.

What do I wear to a match? (U14s/U16s)

Boys should wear black shorts, club socks, and club polo.

Girls should wear black skort, club socks, and club polo or club jersey. Shinguards and mouth guards are compulsory.
